The of Information Systems and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University invites experienced communication professionals to apply for the position of **Adjunct Instructor of Professional Speaking** to deliver classes to graduate students. This position is a unique opportunity for a communications professional who is committed to fostering the growth of emerging leaders and being an essential team member within a top-ranked public policy and information systems school, at one of the most respected research universities in the world.
Candidates should have exceptional teaching skills and communications pedagogy as well as a strong background in professional speaking for business and organizational results. The goal of the Strategic Presentation Skills course provides practical instruction for preparing and delivering professional presentations. Activities and assignments include developing targeted, strategic messages; writing outlines; creating cohesive visuals; exploring new technologies; and, speaking extemporaneously. Students engage specific audiences using a communication style (both verbal and nonverbal) suitable for workplace environments. Overall, the course helps students develop confidence and apply effective techniques when speaking in a public setting.

*Ideal candidates will have professional experience outside academia as well as proven skills in instruction. Significant classroom time, grading & editing of assignments, and tutoring of students are required. A masters degree in a relevant field is required.*
