Job Description Under the direction of the Director of Investigations and Trials, with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgement, the Administrative Investigator will supervise a staff of investigators to identify, detect, and prevent violations of laws, rules, regulations, and code of conduct within the Department of Probation. This position involves managing complex investigations, overseeing investigative staff, and ensuring adherence to protocols for evidence and information handling. Plans, directs, and oversees investigators who perform surveillances, interview subjects and/or witnesses and record analyze financial, public and/or agency records; maintain investigative records; and prepare reports. Ensure accurate record-keeping and preparation of investigative reports. Directs the training and development of staff in investigative techniques and protocols. Manages and controls the chain of custody of evidence and all information and evidence gathered for administrative prosecution, civil litigation and appropriate action as mandated by rules, regulations and other legislative enactments. Testify at hearing and court proceedings as required. Maintains cooperative relationships with the Inspector General, and/or prosecutorial offices and authorized representatives from Federal, State, and municipal agencies regarding investigative, legal and administrative issues and/or concerns. Under executive direction, with latitude for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment, performs very difficult and responsible administrative investigation work. Qualifications A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of full-time paid experience in counseling or casework in a recognized agency adhering to acceptable standards in probation, parole, social services, psychiatric or medical social work or related field, at least 18 months of which must have been in a responsible supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity performing activities related to the duties of the position; or A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to “1” above. However, all candidates must have at least 18 months of experience in an administrative, managerial, executive, consultative, executive capacity or supervising personnel performing activities related to the duties of the position.
