Job Title: Animal Science Technician

Job Description

As a Technician, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the cleanliness and organization of our animal facilities. This includes doing facility laundry, maintaining and disinfecting animal rooms, cages, and facilities, such as showers and bathrooms. Regular observation of animals will be required, to report any changes in their eating or drinking habits, general behaviors, and any outward signs of disease or abnormal appearance. You will be expected to maintain animal health data or other data necessary for the operation of the facility or study conduct. Basic animal husbandry will also be part of your duties, such as feeding and watering animals according to schedules and feeding instructions. You may also be assigned other duties by the study management team, as needed.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Brookings, South Dakota.

Work Environment

This role requires frequent showering in and out of biosecurity facilities. You should be prepared for a fair amount of physical activity and could potentially be working outdoors, exposed to various weather extremes. The work hours are Monday to Friday, 8-5 with rotating weekends after fully trained.
