Description The Degree Audit Specialist/Scribe is responsible for scribing (coding) degree requirements in DegreeWorks and maintaining degree progress tracking for University of New England Students. This position evaluates student's academic records, produces reliable and consistent degree audits and works closely with the Assistant Registrar - Degree Audit and Graduation in degree audit management to assist with graduation preparation.

Responsibilities - Assist with reviewing the curriculum and requirements for academic programs are accurate and promptly scribed (coded) in DegreeWorks.
- Test and maintain the degree audit system reviewing for accuracy to ensure the reliability and integrity of the data.
- Audit the academic progress for students submitting Applications for Graduation by reviewing the students' intended degrees, majors, minors and specializations to identify and notify advisors and students of potential problems and deviations from requirements.
- Responds to questions about degree audits from faculty advisors and staff, and make corrections to degree audits as necessary.
- Counsel professional advisors and faculty advisors about undergraduate/graduate degree requirements, academic policies and procedures.
- Assist with processing approved degree requirement exceptions for course substitutions and overrides in the degree audit system.
- Assist Assistant Registrar - Degree Audit and Graduation with commencement processes to verify that all degree candidates have met degree requirements.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution plus a minimum of three years' of relevant Registrar's Office experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
- Knowledge of student information systems and degree audit systems.
- Strong logical and analytical problem-solving skills; good critical thinking skills; strong attention to detail; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; good organizational, time management, and project planning skills; excellent customer care skills.
- Ability to collect, verify, and report data; ability to make procedural decisions or judgments on sensitive, confidential issues while complying with FERPA; ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment; ability to strategize and to be detail oriented; ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
