Compensation and Benefits: The Full Salary Range for this position is $50,020.00 - $89,510.00 Annually. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work: The Design Drafter is a member of an Engineering Division team preparing property maps using CADD software. This position prepares right-of-way/easement drawings showing the proposed right-of-way/easements needed for constructing and maintaining City projects.
Projects include, but are not limited to: roadway improvements, water and sewer improvements, and sidewalk improvements. This position also prepares deed forms and related exhibit drawings, or metes and bounds legal descriptions of the right-of-way and easements shown on the drawings described above. Drawings, deeds and metes and bounds descriptions are used by City Real Estate Agents to purchase needed right-of-way and easements. This position also conducts research of the ownership of all properties affected by the engineering improvement. The employee will use the Carlson (Autocad) computer aided drafting system to prepare plans and maps, and Microsoft Word to prepare right-of way/easement deed forms along with metes-and-bounds legal descriptions of the needed right-of-way/easements. The mapping work will be performed under the responsible charge of the City Surveyor.
This job is NON- Exempt Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: - Associate Degree with1-3 years of mapping experience
- OR High School Diploma / GED with 5-7 years of mapping experience
- Experience using Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience using AutoCAD Software
- Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications: - NC Surveyor-in-Training Certificate
- Experience using Carlson or similar software
- 1 year of survey work experience
