Position Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Health Communications Strategist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing and implementing communication strategies for federal health and science organizations. This role requires expertise in crafting effective messaging, managing communication campaigns, and engaging with diverse stakeholders to promote public health initiatives and scientific research.
This is a 6 month contract to hire, Public Trust preferred. Responsibilities: - Communication Strategy Development:
- Develop comprehensive communication strategies to promote public health initiatives and scientific research projects.
- Identify key messages and target audiences, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Create and implement multi-channel communication plans, including digital, print, social media, and traditional media.
- Content Creation and Management:
- Produce high-quality content, including press releases, articles, reports, newsletters, social media posts, and multimedia materials.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex scientific information into accessible and engaging content.
- Manage the editorial calendar, ensuring timely and consistent communication across all platforms.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building:
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including federal health and science organizations, media outlets, community partners, and the public.
- Coordinate and facilitate stakeholder meetings, webinars, and public forums to disseminate information and gather feedback.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the organization, representing it at conferences, events, and in media interactions.
- Campaign Management and Evaluation:
- Plan, execute, and manage public health communication campaigns, including outreach, education, and awareness initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns, using metrics and analytics to measure impact and reach.
- Adjust strategies based on evaluation findings to improve future communication efforts.
- Crisis Communication and Issues Management:
- Develop and implement crisis communication plans to manage and mitigate communication risks.
- Respond to public health emergencies and issues, providing accurate and timely information to stakeholders and the public.
- Prepare and disseminate crisis communication materials, including statements, FAQs, and fact sheets.
- Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with internal teams, including public relations, marketing, and program staff, to ensure cohesive communication efforts.
- Provide guidance and support to junior communication staff and interns.
- Participate in cross-functional project teams, contributing to the development and execution of integrated communication strategies.
$80,000 - $95,000 a year
