MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH (MCH) EPIDEMIOLOGY INTERN

POSTING DETAILS:
* The MCH Epidemiology intern will join our team for 19 weeks, working 29 hours each week.
* Start date - As soon as you're ready we can accommodate your class schedule so that you may work during business hours.
* You will need to upload a copy of your resume, transcripts and cover letter explaining how your skills are a good fit for this position, and must have a current GPA standing of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
* Compensation based on education and experience.
JOB SUMMARY:
* We are seeking a talented and engaged intern who is working toward a degree and wants to develop beyond the classroom!
* You would be a great fit if you have excelled in courses such as Epidemiology, MCH, community health, or can demonstrate experience in data management & analysis and public health policy briefs.
* In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the development of MCH activities which may include an MCH dashboard, data management and automation of perinatal partner reports, analysis of Hospital Discharge and maternal mortality data, and the development of issue briefs on maternal mortality based on subpopulations and COVID-19-specific recommendations.
* You may also have the opportunity to engage with community partners and provide resources for community members through the creation of an MCH website!
* You will be coached and mentored by the Prevention Epidemiology and Evaluation Team Epidemiology Program Manager, and Maternal Child Health Epidemiologists, and/or others on the team by collaborating with them on group projects.
YOU WILL BRING THE FOLLOWING TO THE INTERNSHIP:
? Strong verbal and written communication skills.
? Knowledge of Excel and preferably Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
? Knowledge of SAS including tools like macros and procedures like PROC FREQ and PROC TABULATE, knowledge on building dashboards in PowerBI is also a plus!
? Analytical thinking ability.
? An appreciation for data.
? Time management, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
? A basic understanding of data analysis and dissemination.
? Ability to troubleshoot and identify potential technical challenges.
YOU WILL GAIN THE FOLLOWING FROM THIS INTERNSHIP:
? The intern will gain skills in the stratified analysis of maternal health population data, qualitative analysis of fatality prevention recommendations, and dashboard development.
? The intern will work with maternal health subject matter experts to improve data management/analysis workflow and provide resources to meet community needs.
? There will be opportunities for presentation and facilitating collaborative meetings.
? Collaboration with a diverse team of professionals.
