If you already have your life and health insurance license (in any state), you could add Medicare insurance policy sales to your current book of business. Medicare-based insurance policies are required by the government for anyone on Medicare. Often, these are subsidized policies that cost the consumer no money. You become a guide, not a salesperson.

Medicare-based insurance sales is personal. You will be sitting across from seniors who are frustrated and confused by the Medicare enrollment and plan selection process. Your role is to guide them through their options to help them select the best plan for them.

The Medicare Insurance Industry

An insurance policy is required for nearly everyone on Medicare. Often, these policies come at no cost to the client. As a Medicare insurance representative, you get paid for guiding seniors through the Medicare-based insurance policy selection process.

This is NOT a normal sales job. You don’t have to convince clients to buy a policy. You have to help them pick the policy that’s best for them.

Solicitation is limited and controlled by federal laws. You are NOT allowed to knock on doors, approach strangers, or make cold calls. You have to build a network of trusted partners within the senior service industries to get referrals. Marketing is allowed, with specific limitations and supervision.

Like with many insurance jobs, you are paid in monthly increments for every month the policy is effective. Most Medicare clients will keep their policy, on average, for eight years. So once the policy is effective, you can expect years of residual payments.

Business Model

We are not looking for employees. This is an independent contractor position. You will own your own business. Caspian Health Insurance Solutions will provide you guidance and supervision to ensure you are compliant and successful.

In fact, Caspian Health Insurance Solutions won’t be the company paying you. You will maintain direct relationships with the insurance companies, and you will be paid by them. You get 100% of commissions – Caspian is paid over and above for supervising your activity.

Caspian Health Insurance Solutions will NOT own your book of business. If you ever decide to change your Medicare affiliation (aka upline), we won’t stop you. (This isn’t true with all General Agencies.)

Income

The amount you are paid per month is based on the number of active policies in place. There are three primary types of Medicare policies – each paying different amounts. On average you can expect to make $25-$30 per policy per month.

If you can dedicate 20 to 25 hours of work per week, your income will likely be as follows:

Year 1: $10,000; Year 2: $25,000; Year 3: $40,000; Year 4: $70,000; Year 5: $95,000

Medicare insurance sales is often secondary income until the third or fourth year.

Workload

Most of your work will include attending community meetings, holding small events, talking to new clients, and managing your business. You can do most of this work from home. There is NOT a lot of work servicing existing clients; insurance companies will support your clients once a policy is in place.

Selling Medicare-based insurance requires annual certifications. There is a federal test (AHIP) plus a test for every insurance carrier you represent. This testing helps ensure only the most dedicated professionals are selling Medicare-based insurance policies. (Honestly, it’s kind of pain, but it’s just part of the business.)

Support and Supervision

Caspian Health Insurance Solutions is a San Diego-based agency dedicated to helping you become successful. The company is owned by two Medicare brokers with more than 20 years in the Medicare insurance industry. We offer direct support by phone, text, and email. We offer annual trainings and one-on-one coaching. We can give you limited access to office space if you need.

We will also share marketing costs.

We can guide you through no- and low-cost marketing options. These include joining local business organizations, establishing information booths at local retail drugs stores, and participating in local healthcare events.

Spanish-speaking and Farsi-speaking applicants are encouraged to apply.
