Job Summary Performs record-keeping, timekeeping, and payroll processing activities in support of the university's daily payroll operations. Work may include additional duties in support of other financial functions or HR related tasks including employee onboarding. This position processes the multifaceted payroll for university-wide union-represented stagehands, IU Auditorium, and IU Event Services payroll for appointed and hourly part-time employees.
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Under supervision, performs routine and occasionally more complex administrative tasks related to payroll, such as computing wages, overtime payments, taxes, and withholdings.
- Audits timekeeping records and payroll reports to identify errors and ensure compliance with policies and deadlines.
- Maintains comprehensive understanding of stagehand union agreement and hiring practices.
- Ensures policy compliance with background checks and PIC program
- Analyzes and disseminates payroll billing and prepares cost reports for each event, and creates billing to other university departments for non-Auditorium union-represented stagehand payroll.
- Manages hiring processes, E-Verify and all related e-docs for all appointed and hourly staff.
- Provides human resources support by maintaining files and records, processing transactions, and staying up to date on university policies and best practices.
- Performs data entry for processing transactions and maintaining current employee information.
General Responsibilities
- Serves as a department knowledge base for employees to understand payroll information, including deductions, taxes, garnishments, and payroll calendar, as well as other payroll policies and procedures.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience and the department.
- Maintains high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and documents.

EDUCATION
Required - High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required - 4 years in relevant field
SKILLS
Required - Ability to learn and use IU systems, such as HRMS and KFS.

Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary $21.00 - $23.00 an hour
